A new business
in town is opening its doors for a unique approach to healing
the body.
Spirit Winds Therapy located in the historic Soda Water Works
building on Nipomo Street, uses a more holistic approach to
physical therapy.
“We like to use the piano analogy for our business,”
said Michele Jang, Spirit Winds owner. “Traditional
physical therapy would have you focus on the pianist, giving
the pianist lessons on how to play the piano, but if the piano
is broken then no matter how much the pianist practices she
will not sound better.
“We look at the whole situation, and work on tuning
the piano as well as giving the lessons”.
Spirit Winds works with all types of people with different
ailments, from 70 –year-old mad with an achy back to
a child with Attention Deficit Disorder or Tourett’es
Syndrome.
They use several techniques to get blood pulsing though
all areas of the body and to reposition bones and other body
structures, creating a better space for body parts to function
right.
Jang graduated from Long Beach State with her degree in
physical therapy in 1994. Since then she’s worked for
a hospital and traveling therapy service, and taught physical
therapy internationally.
The therapy business will be celebrating its grand opening
Jan. 29 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jang will present her views on
physical therapy at the open house. Refreshments will be served.
